LOTO ( Lock Out Tag Out merupakan seperangkat alat yang digunakan untuk mengisolasi sumber energi berbahaya dan mengendalikan mesin atau peralatan. Isolasi energi ini akan mengamankan pekerja dari kemungkinan terjadinya pelepasan kembali energi berbahaya dari dalam mesin, instalasi listrik, atau peralatan lain yang sedang diperbaiki dan dalam perawatan.

Lockout ialah kegiatan untuk mengisolasi atau mengunci sumber energi berbahaya dengan menggunakan peralatan khusus penguncian. Peran lockout memang sangatlah penting untuk memastikan keselamatan para pekerja nya sebelum melakukan perbaikan atau perawatan.

Sedangkan Tagout adalah alat pelabelan yang digunakan sebagai peringatan bahaya dan menunjukkan kepada orang lain bahwa tidak ada yang boleh menyalakan sakelar atau peralatan di mana tag itu sudah terpasang.

Langkah-langkah dalam melakukan Isolasi (LOTO) harus dikerjakan secara berurutan, tidak dapat dilakukan secara acak, asal atau dilakukan hanya beberapa langkah saja. Lock out tag out (LOTO) ialah metode untuk melindungi pekerja supaya dengan memastikan bahwa mesin sudah benar-benar mati.
